Two Brittany-based wine specialists lead this tasting, and they don’t take themselves too seriously about it. It starts with a blind tasting drawn from some of France’s best-known wine regions: Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Loire, the Rhône or the Jura, depending on what’s available that season.
As you taste, your hosts walk you through what makes each wine what it is. The region, the terroir, the story behind it. They use maps and a few other visual aids to make it click, rather than just talk at you. Each wine is paired with something to eat: oysters, charcuterie, aged raw-milk cheese, or a dessert from a local pastry chef.
It’s part lesson, part storytelling, and part very good food and wine. The mood is relaxed rather than formal.
